About Water Tanks

Storing water these days could not be easier with the choice and variety of water tanks that are now available. The days of thin water tanks that would split in the winter are now over with thanks to manufactures such as Ecosure. Ecosure manufacture water storage tanks that can store up to 7000 litres above and below ground.

The water tanks are made from a strong, durable plastic called MDPE (Medium Density Polyethylene). This plastic is ideal for water storage as instead of splitting when the water freezes; the plastic expands with the water while keeping its rigidity.

Rectangular water tanks are a great space saving option in tight spaces. These have been strengthened by baffles that are moulded through the tank. These baffles are also what make it safe to transport water in the back of vans and trucks.

Older water tanks use to have a two part tap with a nut on back which would attach the tap to the tank. Ecosure water tanks come premoulded with either a:

• ½" BSP Outlet
• ¾" BSP Outlet
• 1" BSP Outlet
• 1¼" BSP Outlet
• 2" BSP Outlet

Gaining access to the water stored in the tanks can be done either with a BSP outlet or a screw down lid; these are available in 8", 14" and 16" diameters as standard. Although many of the cylindrical water tanks can have the top dome removed to create a large open top tank.
